Requirements –

  1. You must be over 18 years old to have a PayPal account to your name.
  2. You need a PAN card. It is compulsory to have a PAN number and if you don’t have a PAN card then you can easily apply to it by using this link.
  3. You need an Indian Bank account. SBI is the preferred bank but you can choose others also.

Steps to create PayPal account-

  1. Go to and signup for a new account
  2. Now there are two types of PayPal account i.e, Individual account Business account. An Individual account is recommended for individuals or non-business that buy and sell online and a Business account is recommended for merchants who operate under a company or group name.
  3. Enter your details in the form carefully and make sure that you use the same name as on your PAN card and bank account.
  4. It will now ask for your credit card details. Enter the details of the credit card if you like otherwise, ignore this step and proceed further.
  5. Check the verification email in your inbox and confirm your account. Now, your account is active.
  6. It’s time to verify your account. Enter your PAN number and bank account details(name, branch, address, account no).
  7. To verify your bank details, PayPal will send a small amount of money(1-2 INR) in your account. It takes some days in this process.
  8. After receiving the money, open your PayPal account and click on the Verified link and enter the same amount of money as your received.
  9. After successfully confirming the above step, your account will be verified and you will become eligible to send and receive payments from it.

Some useful points about PayPal

  1. You can create one Personal account and one Premier or Business account. You can link more email addresses, debit or credit cards, and bank account, but each account must have its own email address and bank account information.
  2. For Indian users, if you receive a payment in your PayPal account then it will get automatically withdrawn to your bank account withing 2-5 days.
  3. Make a strong secure password so that your account will be protected from getting hacked.
